Well, I am not going to talk about Japanese recipes…
‘Cookpad’ had started a Japanese-recipe website.
I am actually focusing on its domain name “washoku.guide.”. “Washoku” means a Japanese cuisine.
Cookpad may reach a decision that new domains will be widely accepted in overseas and to register a domain name under “Dot-guide.”
I have checked the WHOIS data of this domain name and considered how did Cookpad planned it.
The domain name “washoku.guide” was registed on 18 June 2015, so Coodpad built the website and finally launched it on 24 November 2015.
They had to choose the domain name before its registration date and also need to consider which extension would go with a popular Japanese word “washoku.” So Cookpad, at least, had to start the project in the second quarter of 2015.
I personally assume that other Japanese enterprises may take the same/similar domain strategy to Cookpad from now on.
